GBS Tour 15: Back to the Rakhine Dynasty

Yangon - Sitwe - Mrauk - U-Sittwe - Yangon (7 Days / 6 Nights)

The Rakhine Yoma (Arakan Range) Separates the Rakhine and Chin States from the Central Ayeyarwaddy ( Irrawaddy) River plains. Although the first inhabitants of the region were a dark skinned Negrito tribe known as the Bilu, developed the first Christian millennium. These Kingdoms flourished before the invasion of the Tibeto-Burman from the north and east in the 9th and 18th Centuries.

Day - 1 : Arrival Yangon

Arrive Yangon International Airport. Our guide will welcome you Transfer to hotel and check-in at hotel. Afternoon Sightseeing begins from Sule Pagoda, Chaukhtat Kyi(Six storey), Kandawgyi (Royal Lake), Karaweik Hall, and watch the Sunset at glorious Shwedagon Pagoda, Overnight at one of the hotel in Yangon.



 

Day - 2 : Yangon – Sittwe by flight – Mrauk U by boat

After breakfast, visit to some of the sites left from the first day. Highlights include, Gabar Aye Pagoda (world peace Pagoda), Abaya Labha Muni Buddha Image, carved from(500)tons marble rock. Then proceed to Yangon International airport, to fly to Sittwe. Arrive Sittwe and transfer to jetty to embark on a private boat to go to Mrauk-U. Arrive Mrauk-U in the evening and check-in at hotel.
 

Day - 3 : Mrauk U

After breakfast, full day excursion in Mrauk U. Highlights include Shit Thoung Temple, built by King MinBar Gyi in AD1535.The next object of interest will be Htokekant Theim Temple, built by King Min Phalong in 1571 AD. Then to Antaw- Theim Temple, built by King Min Bar gyi. lunch break. After lunch your afternoon sightseeing will begin from Koe-Thoung Phato Taw Gyi, built by King Min Teik Khar in AD1553.After that a visit to Mrauk-U archaeological Museum. The Museum consists of five main exhibition rooms, such as stone inscription, Buddha images, art objects, glazed ware and ceramic exhibition and model of Mrauk-U ancient city exhibition room. Drive back to hotel after a visit to Museum.
 

Day - 4 : Mrauk U

After breakfast, day return trip to Wethali, just less than 10 km north of Mrauk-U are the remains as the Wethali or vesali. (Waithali in the local parlance), Kingdom. According to Rakhaing charonicles, Wethali was founded in(327) AD by King Mahataing Chandra. Archaeologists believe that tins Kingdom lasted until the 8th century. Other object of interest will by Magamuni Paya. This was the original site for Mandalay's famous Mahamuni Buddha.
 

Day - 5 : Mrauk U – Sittwe by boat

After breakfast, transfer to jetty, embark on a private boat to Sail back to Sittwe. Picnic lunch on the boat. Arrive Sittwe in the afternoon, transfer to hotel. Afternoon, light excursion around Sittwe City. A visit to view Point. Overnight at one of the hotel in Sittwe.



 

Day - 6 : Sittwe – Yangon by flight

After breakfast, drive to the main market to mingle with the locals and to see what the locals are produces in Sittwe. Then drive back to hotel, pack your belongings, take Shower and drive to Sittwe Airport for your afternoon flight, to fly back to Yangon. Arrive Yangon International Airport, transfer to hotel overnight at one of the hotel in Yangon.
 

Day - 7 : Departure Yangon

After breakfast, transfer to Yangon International Airport, for departure.
