Yangon - Mawlamyine - Thanbyuzayat - Kyaikkhami - Kyaikhtiyo

South of Mudon, Little traffic is seen and the hills to
the east grow more densely forested. Thanbyuzayat, ( Tin
Shelter ), 30km South of Mawlamyine was the western terminus
of the infamous Burma-Siam Railway dubbed the “ Death
Railway” by the thousand of Allied prisoners of war (POWs)
and Asian Coolies who were forced by the Japanese military
to build it. It was here that the Japanese broke into
Myanmar after Marching over the rugged mountain range
Separating Myanmar from Thailand Via Three Pagodas Pass.
Day – 1: Arrival Yangon
Arrive
Yangon International Airport. Our guide will welcome you and
transfer to hotel. Afternoon sightseeing begins from Sule
Pagoda, Chaukhtat Kyi (six storey), Kandawgyi(Royal Lake)
(now nature park), Karaweik Hall , and watch the Sunset at
Glorious Shwedagon Pagoda. Overnight at one of the hotel
inYangon.
Day - 2 : Yangon – Mawlamyine by coach
After breakfast, drive to Mawlamyine, known as Moulmein
(187 km, ± 8 hourdrive) . The atmosphere of post-colonial
decay is more palpable here than in fast- developing Yangon
or Mandalay. It is also an attractive, leafy, tropical town
with ridge of stupa capped hills on one side and the sea on
the other. Mawlamyine served as capital of British Burma
from 1827 to 1852, during which time if developed as a major
teak port. Overnight at one of the hotel in Mawlamyine.
Day – 3: Mawlamyine – Thanbyuzayat by
coach
After breakfast, drive to Thanbyuzayat, south of Mudon.
Thanbyuzayat (Tin Shelter), 30 km south of Mawlamyine, was
the western terminus of the infamous Burma- Siam Railway
dubbed the 'Death Railway' by the thousands of Allied

the Japanese military to built it. Kyaikkami located 9 km
north. East of Thanbyuzayat, Kyaikkami was a small coastal
resort and missionary centre known as Amherst during the
British era. Setse-This low-key Gulf of Martaban beach lies
about half way between Kyaikkami and Thanbyuzayat. It's a
very wide, brown-sand beach that tends towards tidal flats
when the shallow surf-line recedes at low tide. The beach is
lined by waving casuarinas trees. Overnight at hotel in
Mawlamyine.
Day – 4: Mawlamyine – Kyaikhtiyo by
coach
After breakfast, drive around colonial area in Mawlamyine.
Stop by at one of the main market, to have some impression.
Then drive to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda(Golden Rock). It is about
20km from the small town of Kyaikto, one of the most
interesting pagodas, a traditional religious Buddhist
monument, incredible balancing boulder stupa, resting on a
tabular rock which has the height of 83 feet. Like shwedagon
Paya in Yangon (Rangoon) or Mahamuni Paya in Mandalay,
Kyaikhtiyo is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in
Myanmar. Overnight at hotel.
Day – 5: Kyaikhtiyo - Yangon
After breakfast, drive back to Kinpun base camp. Then
drive back to Yangon. On the way visit Bago for it musts:
Shwemawdaw Paya, Shwetharlayaung (Reclining Buddha Image)
and Kyaikpun Pagoda, built in 1476 by King Dhammazedi, it
consists of four 30m-high sitting Buddhas placed back to
back around a huge, square pillar. From there we will drive
to Htaukkyant War Cemetery with the graves of 27000 Allied
Soldiers who died in the Burma and Assam Campaigns of WW II.
Maintained by the Common Wealth War Graves Commission, the
Cemetery is beautifully landscaped. Overnight at hotel.
Day – 6: Departure Yangon
Breakfast at hotel and leisure till the flight time. Then
transfer to the airport for the departure flight to conclude
this happy trip.
